Bushman with Human Hair

654The exact origin of these Bushmen statues is not known, however they were originally labeled as Zulu in origin. The statues do, however bear a striking resemblance to characters from the 1981 film, The Gods Must Be Crazy. The figure on the far left holds what appears to be a glass soda bottle just like the glass Coca Cola bottle that was part of the film's central theme. He is also looking up, something that happened in the film when the bushmen first saw an airplane. The figures also have beaded necklaces and anklets, bows and arrows, all of which are common in historic depictions of the !Kung Bushmen of the Kalahari Desert as well as other San peoples.
