Tikar Traveling King
This exceptionally large version of a classic Tikar desgin features the King being Transported in a palanquin with the Queen Mother and one of his Queens holding a baby. (A king may have well over 300 queens, all of whom live together in a separate palace). The men carrying the palanquin are court officials, one of whom holds a jug of palm wine, while another holds a ceremonial annoucement horn. This royal procession is for the people to catch a glimpse of the msot often hidden and secluded King. The procession usually happens during rituals and ceremonies surrounding the harvest.
